Ohio County Engineers are responsible for 26,081 bridges and 28,970 miles of urban and rural roadways that are vital to the combined growth of jobs and prosperity in the state of Ohio.

Army Corps of Engineers to Deploy 1,100 Personnel to Baltimore After Bridge Collapse

(The Hill) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is deploying more than 1,100 personnel to Baltimore, Maryland, following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge into the Patapsco River early Tuesday morning, the service said in a statement.

Local County Engineer Paul Gruner Reacts to Baltimore Bridge Collapse

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — As more information is released on the catastrophic bridge collapse in Baltimore, a Montgomery County engineer provided a local perspective.

Engineer Paul Gruner said once major damage is caused to a bridge’s pier, there’s no stopping what happens next. He said no matter how many protections were put in place at the Francis Scott Key Bridge, there was no way it could have withstood the impact of a ship that size.

Local County Engineer Pat Ginnetti Reacts to Baltimore Bridge Collapse

YOUNGTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – In the early morning darkness, a container ship leaving Baltimore harbor smashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing it to collapse.

Rescuers said they pulled out two people, but six others were still missing The ship’s crew issued a mayday call shortly before the collision, which allowed authorities to limit the flow of traffic onto the bridge but some vehicles still went into the water

Mahoning County Engineer Pat Ginnetti learned about the bridge collapse early Tuesday much like everyone else. He said it looked to be the “perfect storm.”

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed Tuesday after being struck by a cargo ship, sending at least seven people into the water. A massive emergency response is underway.

Agencies Pull Together to Assist with Debris Clean Up

The Logan County Engineer’s Office received assistance late last week to clean up of storm damage debris at Indian Lake from Engineer’s Office Associations in Hardin, Shelby and Auglaize Counties, along with the Ohio National Guard. Loads were being transported from Lakeview to the Cherokee Run Landfill in Bellefontaine. The City of Bellefontaine and Ohio Department of Transportation sent crews to the area as well.
