FAQ'S
**
SPECIFY THE DESIGN LOADING YOU WANT IN THE SCOPE OF SERVICES! **
From
the keyboard of Doug Gruver, ODOT Hydraulics Engineer...
..."As
per our meetings with each of you, we have previously stated that unless
you
prefer HS-25 loading, you do not need to specify the design loading
for the new
structures. The assumption was that you would get an
HS-20 design based on the
AASHTO Bridge manual.
However, after further investigation, we have found that the AASHTO manual
could be
interpreted in different ways and you could end up with an HS-15
design. Therefore,
you must specify the design loading for each structure in your scope. Use
HS-20 as a
minimum but feel free to specify HS-25 if desired.
