County engineer urges drivers to slow down after winter storms
Tuscarawas County Engineer Doug Bachman is reminding drivers to slow down during and after snow and ice storms. The department’s goal is to get county roads to a condition where the average driver, when exercising caution, can travel safely. Reduced speeds may be necessary.
During and after large storms, the department will work to get roads open so they can be traveled safely with caution. However, due to budget limitations, county roads will not necessarily be in a condition that allows drivers to safely travel 55 mph. The department does not have a “black roads” policy and does not have the resources to get roads completely clear and dry in every storm.
