CEAO BR86/87 Bridge Inspection Program

To:     ALL Bridge Inventory and Inspection Program Users:

Re:      Update of Program
           ODOT changes to the Database

NOTE    Brian Miller from Lucas County has completed the error checking module for
the CEAO Bridge Inspection Program.  ODOT has also made changes in their
bridge database which will be implemented at the same time.

Every county should follow these steps to make the transition:

 1.        SEND IN ANY INVENTORY CHANGES OR INSPECTION DATA TO KATHY KELLER AT ODOT
          BY MAY 15, 2006
.  After that date the data format will change and ODOT will
no longer be able to accept data from the old program.  Please make sure
that any consultants who are doing work for you send your data in by this
        date as well.

2.        If you use the Electronic Bridge Card Data, make sure you backup the old file for use later.

3.        DOWNLOAD THE NEW PROGRAM FROM THE CEAO WEBSITE. (After May 15th)

 4.     AFTER MAY 22, REQUEST A NEW DATA FILE FOR YOUR COUNTY FROM KATHY KELLER
AT ODOT AND IMPORT THIS DATA into the new program
.  (You will need to get the data from ODOT to
         fill the new database structure.)

5.     If you use the Electronic Bridge Card Data to preserve, then use the built in EBC info data importer (under utilities menu > import/export menu)
to transfer the data that you backed up from your old file.

6.     You should then be up and running with the new error checking for both the inventory and inspection.

7.       Note: Your old retirement database will only be accesible from ACCESS but the program will continue to update
        with any new retirements.

******************************************************************************************************************************

F1 now works with all fields in the BR86 and BR87. F1 allows you to bring up the descriptions from the BR86 and BR87 manuals. These help forms and manuals have been updated to reflect the latest updates from ODOT.

******************************************************************************************************************************

RE-EXPORTING THE BR87 DATA

As you may be aware, when exporting the BR87, it is a one time export due to the fact that the updates being exporting, you do not want them to go to ODOT the next year, therefore, after they are exported, the export table is cleared and the field in the BR87 (TRAN_CODE) gets cleared of it's letter indicators that the export module uses to know which records to export.

Now there is a re-exporter on the Import/Export Form that allows you to Re-Export the BR87 data in that time of crisis when you may need to re-export the data that you changed, and for what ever reason, the original data you exported got lost. Here is where you will find it. There is also a small HELP button on the Re-Exporter form to explain how this works:

After you're done, just export the BR87 as before!

************************************************************************************

EBC DATA IMPORTER

The new EBC Data Importer allows you to import your old EBC data from your

previous BridgeData.mdb file. This utility is found under the Utilities Menu  >

then go to the Import / Export Menu  > there you will see the EBC Data Importer.

Just browse to your old bridgedata.mdb, select it and click Open and Voila!!

******************************************************************************************************************************

The all new Bridge Data Explorer is now available. It's available for download on the same page

as the main bridge program.

If you do not have Microsoft Access 2002 or the MS Office XP Professional Edition,

download and install MS Access Runtime 2002 first before installing bridge program.

You must have one of these to run the bridge program. This is a one-time only

installation and is a separate program. (Royalty-Free Distribution - 49 MB download)

MS Access Runtime 2003 - Download the following 5 files to a temporary folder on your hard drive,

then run disk1.exe to reconstruct the zipped file that contains the installation setup files for

MS Access Runtime 2003:

File 1: Disk1.exe

File 2: Disk1.gsd

File 3: Disk2.gsd

File 4: Disk3.gsd

File 5: Disk4.gsd
